Building Fun

One of our biggest projects this summer has been putting a building in our back yard. Corey took on the part of laying the concrete, which turned out to be a VERY big, complicated project. With a little help, the concrete was laid and the building was finished and we love it!! I am including only a few pictures, but this was extended over weeks, maybe months of really hard work. Between the heat, learning as he went, and a full time job, Corey really did stretch himself very thin to accomplish this major project!
June wanted to be in the picture...she's proud of all the napping she did during the construction.

I never knew there was so much to laying concrete! Here's Corey tilling up the area
and he's making it look easy...it was really hot and really hard!

I can't even pretend to know what all the steps were, but here was one of them!!

Corey consulted a man with a long history of projects, and Dad was willing to help
frame out the slab. It was so hot on this particular Sunday, I think they went through
3-4 pitchers of tea! (That was my job) Notice June napping in the background, such a big helper!
June doing what she does best.

Looking good! Progress is being made!

There was much, MUCH more done before this step ever came, but while the actual concrete was being poured, I was lucky enough to be at work!! Here, a week or so later, the actual building is going up (again, I was at work for this fun~whew!) Corey and Dad were able to kick back and let the builders take it from here. This was a very exciting day for Corey, months of hard work were finally taking shape!

And finally, the man and his man-shop!
The building is very nice and we are really enjoying having it. The patio is really awesome, and we have plans to really do some fun stuff with it. we have goals of electricity and a sink and much more, but for now, we are going to focus on Lilah's nursery before she gets here; I'm not sure how CPS would feel about us keeping her in a shop!!
GOOD JOB ON THE SHOP, BABE!!!!

Hardest Working Husband

Do you ever look around and wonder how on earth stuff ever gets done? I never EVER wonder, because in my world, the answer is always COREY! I have a wonderful husband that is really great about staying motivated and getting things done. We have both been a little overwhelmed at all the things that need to be done before Lilah arrives and while I freak out, Corey gets to work.

First, he begins with a cabinet for storage in the garage. My dear Dad and wonderful husband spent a Saturday building this shelf from scratch. What men! (and I am ashamed to say, my mother and I spent a large amount of that time in the comforts of Hobby Lobby, heehee) Corey spent the rest of the week sanding, priming and painting out cabinet.

And look, he smiles while he works too!! What a guy!

There's only so much help that I am in these situations, but I did my best to stay out of the way and keep the tea with lime coming! (I did help put doors on.....) Corey does have an amazing support though, his best buddy that stayed with him cheering him on the whole time...and napping a bit.

Corey's biggest fan

She smiles while he works too!!

Corey had barely touched up the cabinet, and the next project was underway. With the guidence of the home improvement pro, Jim, they began tackling the next big project. A shop/storage building in the back yard. I have no doubt that this next project will be Corey's biggest yet, but you can't doubt that it will be done perfectly~my husband knows no other way!

Already looks great to me!

It is such a blessing to have such a wonderful, hardworking husband. He has a battery that won't quit and is such a handy guy! Even better, he knows I'm nothing like him and loves me anyway!!

I know that he will be an excellent teacher to our children in motivation and seeing a project through. I tease him all the time for never sitting still, and I often get frusterated that he never sits, but deep down, I am so proud of him and appreciate him so much!! Thanks babe, I love you!

And just so you know what Lilah and I have been up to, your looking at it!

I have never claimed to be a motivated hard worker.....I have my moments.....everynow and then....
