Lilah's 1 Week Old!

Splish Splash

SPLISH SPLASH!!
We gave Lilah her first bath.....she doesn't hide her emotions either!
She HATED her first bath~wasn't sure we were ever bathing her again!
The hair being washed, on the other hand, was acceptable. She actually liked that part.

Here she is warming up and drying off.
As soon as we wrapped her in a towel she was perfectly happy.

Here she is all clean and happy.

Lilah Claire has Arrived

Our little Lilah Claire finally arrived!! (and I am FINALLY blogging) She is, of course, the most beautiful baby we have ever seen. Here are the pictures and the story of how our pretty girl made her way into our world and hearts!

We were to be at the hospital at midnight to have our angel on Auust 18, 2009. We were very nervous and super excited. I had been packed for about 3 weeks because everyone just knew this baby was coming early! Corey was packing about an our before we had to leave! So here we are excited and having no idea what the day will hold, all we know is that the completion to the story will be our lovely Lilah Claire.

This is actually when we arrived and got settled. We wanted to remeber the time our adventure began. I wasn't actually given anything to start labor until 2am and the pitocin wasn't started until 6am. We both had talked about getting some sleep, but I can't remeber being able to sit still or close my eyes! I think we tried......

Here I am trying to smile but I am so nervous I can barely stand it!

Corey is much more relaxed.

Here is my monitor, the contractions started very promptly after 6am. I was glued to the monitor the whole time! Contractions were not the worst thing that I ever experienced though. They weren't fun, but they weren't awful. I was definately ready for the epidural when it was time. They came in and told me it would be 15 minutes and the CRNA would be in to start it. That was the longest 15 minutes I have ever known, definately worth the wait!! It was much more fun to oooooo and awwwww at how big the contractions were when I couldn't feel them!

Here is everyone hanging out and waiting for the fun to start. Boy they look like they are enjoying themselves or something. Must be nice to be that relaxed!

I was only about 5 hours in and Lilah was showing her first signs of stuggling. After MUCH, MUCH work, we had to throw in the towel and head to the OR for a C-section. I cried the whole way there. :( All in God's plan and I ended up with a perfect little girl within minutes! This was the actual time that they wheeled me down.

Corey dressed and ready to meet his daughter

This was the first moment I saw her. It is one of my favorite pictures because it's a moment that I never want to forget. I couldn't see anything that was going on so hearing her first cry was the most special moment of my life. I remember moments before looking at Corey and saying, "we are about to be parents!" The words were so surreal to say, but hearing her cry almost took my breath. My eyes were instantly wet with tears, it was amazing. You wait 9 months and watch your tummy grow and feel your baby move, but there is nothing like hearing and seeing her for the first time!!

My sweet Girl!

About to have her first picture taken, thank goodness she didn't make that face for the camera!

Our sweet family made even sweeter with something so tiny

This is the face of a super proud poppa. I was afraid that I would never hold her again!

After a long first day of life, it was such a treat to sleep in the next morning with Daddy.
I laid her with Corey so I could take a shower and returned to find Lilah rubbing her Daddy's chin while they were both sleeping.

Whew! She was one unhappy girl about losing the onsie and putting on a frilly dress (although I know she will definately be a "dress girl") It was time to head home and see her room that has been waiting on her arrival!

Isn't she precious!

Finally home! Our first family adventure. What a wonderful experience and I look forward to many, many more together!

Yes, the word is MISERABLE!!

Sunday before a VERY anticipated Doctor visit to find out how much longer this precious child can possibly stay folded up in my tummy!!!
And yes, the appropriate word for this (as found in the dictonary next to this very picture
~go ahead, Google it!) is
MISERABLE!!
