Lilah's Nursery

THE NURSERY UNVEILED!!

We have had the nursery finished for awhile, but the entire house has been in chaos, so pictures and computer access and time just hasn't been possible, but YAY, it is finally time! Putting the nursery together was a lot of had work, very time consuming and really fun all at the same time. Corey and I actually work well together and have some of the most fun when we work together! We got to spend a lot of late hours laughing, planning, shopping and yes, some bickering, but

I have to say, I think that we really had a great time together planning a perfect room for our first little one.

We have gotten a bunch of funny faces when we announce the colors that we chose for a baby girl, but I just have this feeling that it's going to fit our Lilah Claire perfectly! It's fun, bright, cheerful and just precious!

This is a finished picture, there is much work ahead!!

June was absolutely NO help in the process, but you can see that she's excited. There have been a few mornings that I have woken up to her sound asleep in the green rug infront of Lilah's crib. Chula hasn't made up her mind about what she thinks about all these changes, so she's coping the only way Chula does....she hides.
I was really excited to get to put some of my love of painting into the nursery. I painted a cabinet that was once a pantry in my apartment in college to match the room. It was fun and frusterating, I am beginning to LOATH sitting on the floor! I also painted Lilah's name that hangs above the crib, which turned out really nicely, I think!!

Ughhh, putting together the crib!! You always hear the horror stories about putting together the crib. The crib was a piece of cake compared to the changing table!! There are no pictures for very good reasons, we were up until 3am finishing it, and there wasn't anything pretty about that!!

Grammy Boucher came over more than once to help paint. Corey and his momma have one major thing in common, they NEVER sleep!! It hits 10pm and I start getting delirious, but these two can work into wee hours of the morning. I'm just glad there will be people awake in the wee hours for feedings and diaper changes!! heehee!!

See, I try to hang in there! It's dark outside and I'm still in there painting!
There are, of course, so many things that we did that there are not pictures of: Corey did a beautiful job on his first attempt at crown molding, put in a new ceiling fan and his personal favorite, the nightlight light switch!!

The room is such a calming, pretty room. I think that Lilah will love it! Corey's dad bought us the crib and changing table, which are absolutely lovely! We are slowly adding things as we receive very appreciated gifts. We are waiting on the arrival of our nursing chair and the curtains that Gramzie Winters is sewing and I think we will be complete!

The changing table is very beautiful! I am slowly forgiving it for all the stress of putting it together.

Here is the finished bookshelf that I painted. I absolutely love books and really want Lilah to love them too. She already had a nice collection and Gramzie was wonderful enough to dig up some of my favorites as a kiddo too! And, yes, my favorites included princesses, big beautiful dresses and a prince or two~it also included My Pet Monster!!! (I was well rounded-heehee)
We also were pretty excited to discover that we both had our handprints from when we were little. We were REALLY excited to see that they included the SAME EXACT POEM!! Corey's prints are in black and he was old enough to write his name. Mine is in green and I was 11 months old. We bought a matching frame so the we could have Lilah's done also.

My very talented sister, Auntie Lacie, put together this beautiful wreath for a shower I had recently. It's, as to be expected, perfect colors and style for the door of Lilah's nursery. We also plan to put it on the door at the hospital when the little lady arrives.

And if it's a girl, you can't leave out the closet! This girl is not hurting for clothes and this is just the closet!! She has a drawer full as well. The toy box is one of my favorite things. It's the toy box that my Dad built that I had as a child. It will be really neat to see my daughter use it as well, and I'm sure it'll make Paw Paw pretty proud too!
